Associated Press News Release

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The White House is pushing its economic agenda by drawing contrasts with Republicans as it attempts to give Democrats something to talk about other than the troubled health care rollout.

The White House is deploying the president, vice president and Cabinet members across the country in the coming days and weeks. They will draw attention to improvements in the still sluggish recovery and detail the economic costs of last month's partial government shutdown.

The offensive comes as Republicans plan an assault on the health care law during its critical enrollment period.

Buttressing its case, the White House is giving congressional Democrats a polling memo arguing that despite headlines devoted to the botched health care website, to NSA spying activities and Syria's chemical weapons, the economy remains voters' top priority.
