Pam Immendorf from the Bainbridge Humane Society says that they appeared before the City Council Tuesday night and gave them information packets about what they need to keep their operation running. Several people poke and the City Council said they will take it under advisement and deal with it in their budget talks.
Immendorf says they have spoken with the County Administrator and manager and they said they will help with the immediate problem. The City wants to get the Humane Society through September which is the end of their fiscal year.
Last fiscal year that ended in May showed that the Humane Society cost 211,000 dollars to operate. The city of Bainbridge gave 78,000 dollars or 36% while the county gave only 5,000 dollars. The remainder was raised by the BHS. The Humane Society gave the city some figures that they would need budgeted for the coming year and gave them a bottom line to make it through September. Pam says she will call the city in a few days to see what the progress is.
