Curb Appeal, Part 3

If you saw a picture of this house on the Internet, would you want more information about it? Of would the peeling paint and the overgrown landscaping send you looking at more homes?
This house may be an extreme example of a home that lacks curb appeal, but homeowners need to put their best house forward-- whether they are selling their house or simply making a house feel like a home.
Giving your home a fresh coat of paint can really make a difference. Avoid while or beige and investigate the many colors available from paint companies. Make sure that your properly prepare the surface with a good primer to prevent peeling.
"A home that could use a freshening paint job is probably the best place to spend the least amount of money and gain the most amount of activity and exposure to your property."
If you have a brick home it used to be that there weren't many options for sprucing up the exterior of your home. A textured, masonry coating, available exclusively from Boral in 30 colors, instantly adds long lasting color and a rich sanded texture in just one coat. ReCote can be applied by either spray applications or a brush.
Clean any exterior lighting fixtures so your house shines during both day and evening hours.
What about your yard? You don't need to re-sod it to give it a great look. And yes, you can do it yourself. Get a lawn fertilizer that's right for your lawn and use it! Keep the grass cut at the proper height. it's am important step to a green, lush-looking yard.
Make sure the trees, bushes and shrubs are neatly trimmed. Get rid of dead limbs and pick up sticks from the yard. Pull weeds and add new mulch to the landscaping. you'll be surprised what a quick pick-me-up it gives your home.
Colorful flowers are a great addition to the front of a home. If you don't want to prepare flower beds, container gardens are a good option that can be placed in front of the home, on or near the driveway or on the walk or porch. adding a flag will also add color to your home and is an easy do-it-yourself project. Replacing the mailbox or painting it is another easy weekend project. These are basic 'fast fix projects' that can be tackled in one day.
First impressions really matter when it comes to assessing the value of your home. Even if you're just trying to make your house more inviting or trying to impress a potential buyer scouting on the Internet, curb appeal really makes a difference.
