Florida CFO Speaks on Possible Special Session

As for a special session, Florida’s Chief Financial Officer continues to stir the pot. Today CFO Alex Sink, once again, called for a special session to handle the state’s budget problems.

With the expected prediction of a billion dollar budget deficit, Sink says if lawmakers don’t act now, they won’t have enough time to balance the budget without making irresponsible cuts. She says, “we can’t wait until March. If we wait until March, and we have to make up a billion dollar hole in general revenue, where does that kind of expense cut come from in just three months of a fiscal year?”

The Florida Education Association is supporting Sink’s efforts, while the Governor continues to wait on the latest budget figures slated to be released next week.
