The Quinnipiac University Poll claims only 36 percent of likely voters think the senator deserves a second term. 40 percent say they’d vote against the first term senator.
Pollster Peter Brown says Martinez may be down right now, but there’s still a long time before he’s up for re- election.
Peter Brown said, “it’s a sign of weakness. The Democrats obviously have much better opportunity at unseating Senator Mel Martinez than they do Governor Crist. Now again we have a few years to go and that’s a lifetime in politics.”
Senator Martinez isn’t up for reelection until 2010.
