BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) _ Police are offering more details on the
stabbing death that took place last night at Virginia Tech.
They say a graduate student from China was decapitated with a
kitchen knife at a campus cafe by another graduate student who knew
her.
The student who was killed, Xin Yang, had just arrived at the
campus from Beijing two weeks ago to begin studying accounting.
Her accused attacker, Haiyang Zhu, also from China, knew the
victim. But police say no motive for the killing has been
determined.
School records show that the suspect was listed as one of the
victim's emergency contacts.
The suspect is being charged with first-degree murder, and is
being held without bond.
It was the first killing on the Virginia Tech campus since a
mass killing there in 2007, when a student killed 32 people before
taking his own life.
