MIAMI (AP) -- A prominent anti-gay activist is denying wrongdoing
after an alternative Miami newspaper published a report saying he
went on a 10-day trip to Europe with a young male prostitute.
The Miami New Times reported this week that George Alan Rekers took a trip with an escort hired from Rentboy.com.
Rekers is a Baptist minister and psychology professor active in anti-gay groups and helped found the Family Research Council.
In a statement on his website, Rekers called the report
slanderous, saying he requires an assistant to lift his luggage
during his travels because of an ongoing condition following
Rekers said in the statement that he was not involved in any
illegal or sexual behavior with the assistant.
A phone number listed for Rekers was disconnected.
