Child Safety Seats can be tough to install properly which is why Leon county EMS stepped in to help. From 12 to five on Friday afternoon, Paramedics and Car Seat Technicians hosted a safety seat checkpoint. The techs provided free, hands-on education and make sure seats were installed correctly.
"We go through a three day course to become a certified child seat technician to learn all these different things. So we check the height, weight, positioning of the car, positioning of the seatbelt so then to make sure its in there secure," said Iain McPhail, car seat program coordinator.
The next child safety seat checkpoint will be Wednesday, December 19th. It will be from 2:30-5:30 at EMS Headquarters, at the corner of Blair Stone and Miccosukee Roads. Call 850-606-2100 to schedule your appointment.
