Folks traveled from all around the country to show off their custom cars and a chance to win a cash prize today.

The car show, which was held at the North Florida Fair Grounds, was one of the final events taking place during DEMP week. Several thousand people were expected to attend the show where contestants could enter to win two thousand dollars for the best custom made vehicle.

DJ Dap from Blazin 102.3 was at the event. He says, "Every year people come out, they look for the cars, everybody wants to know who has the nicest ride. Everybody likes cars, they like the vendors with the food, it's a positive community event."

Demp week was founded by a Tallahassee resident and celebrity D-J in 1997, and has become a tradition in Florida's capital city ever since.

@ C/vill and Bill and his boys...yall act like you've never heard people curse. Im justifying what they were doing at the car show but you act like you all are saints. No one is perfect. In that case, you should be confined to your house because everywhere you go, you are going to see and hear things that is not respectful or approving to you. Just learn to turn the other cheek. You would probably be better off is you smoked one. Probably wouldn't be so uptight. IM JUST SAYING!!!

I 'saw', but didn't 'seen' anything. The lack of respect by the fros was appalling. I don't care to hear that language, but show some respect for the children and women. Every other word doesn't have to be the vulgar 'n' word. This group wants to rid themselves of this word, but they continue to use it. Makes zero sense to me.

Ignorance is the key to sterotypes and racisim. What you can not or refuse to understand keeps the cycle going. I personally love to see people of any race doing something productive with their time especially when attempting to give back to their community. Joe is St Marks is only trying to get a rise out of people. Bur guess what Joe if no one feeds your fire it to will burn out. Learn to respect each other and judge not from the out but from the in. By the way Joe black people like yall's celebrations down in St Marks too. Don't be so judgemental..

JOE, I'm not going to sugar coat it all. You are just down right racist and ignorant. Grow up, get a life or better yet, disappear. What does the car show have to do with being a thug? I tell you what, you need to go sit in a corner and think before you speak with your IGNORANT behind. Your thoughts show just how immature you are!!!

wow.... there can't even be a car show in this town without people commenting on the article and using words like thugs, racism, and backhanded phrases that point to another group of people. All this finger pointing and trash talk in this town needs to go. It is all very childish, downright immature. Wait, maybe I will go before this town implodes. BTW, viewing the video I saw 2 things, and I say this in response to the comments already posted- I saw some customized cars that look like some thought and hard work went into them, even though tires that tall are not my thing, I can still appreciate the craftsmanship, but I even saw folks of different colors there and they seemed to be getting along fine.......

wow just because I have a custom car I'm a thug??? Okkk what about those pickups with the raised suspension and 30 inch mud tires?! Sounds custom to me... What about the FSU students who blast thier music while they party?? Sounds like "JOE" needs an excuse to stereotype...just let it go
  • by WHAT THE DIFFERENCE on Jan 9, 2011 at 09:29 PM
No difference than FSU using taxpayers money to utilize a bus to pick students up from one club to another down Tennessee St. Drunk people falling all in the street seven days a week oh that would be because they fell like they are inferior to others so they sht do not stick let the chips fall. Grow up let Racism go ignorance run in all races
