Tallahassee - FAMU kicked off a nationwide tour to celebrate the school's 125th anniversary.
In a prayer vigil Friday night, FAMU President James Ammons said, "And now in the midst of our greatest storm our dedication to the enhancement of FAMU will once again lead us to greater heights."
Surrounding the eternal flame, President Ammons, fellow administrators and school supporters gathered for a prayer vigil before the following reception.
The vigil kicked off the Legacy Torch Tour. A replica of the eternal flame will travel throughout the U.S. as a symbol and to raise awareness about what the school has to offer.
During the vigil, they prayed for the well-being of the school, and that they can use the anniversary as a way to spread a positive message about Rattler nation.
