Pizza, Pasta and a whole lot of Mama Mia's were exchanged over the weekend at Tallahassee's first ever Italian Festival.

Thousands of people visited the Italian Festival held at John Paul the II Catholic High school in Southwood.

The Capital Italian American Organization hosted the event.

The event became so popular on Saturday it sold out of food.

There were about five food vendors on Saturday and Sunday dishing out Pizza, Pasta, cannoli's and meatball's!

I live in Live Oak did not know of this event at all. Idea: next year, get organized early and have good PR. Let Italians handle the the food ----not the Irish. PS: trust but vet your vendors. price to get in $3 bucks not $5.

I hope this was a learning experience for them as well. I went Saturday. I paid for my family to get in and they were sold out of all food and waiting for more to come. After waiting for an hour we left. The setup was nice but we were very hungry. I know they can fix those issues and I look forward to attending next year!

I didn't make Saturday's event, but I did make Sunday afternoon. The calamari had sold out the day before, but the mussels were awesome. I was abit disappointed in the food being offered up. The pizza vendors were serving cold pizza $3 a slice, the meatball sub was $8. The food inside was fair priced but very simple. I hope this first year was a learning experience for all who worked it...and the Festa will grow next year. I thought $5 at the gate was a bit much and then buying the food to eat with limited vendors. I am Italian and I am thrilled by the idea of the event and look forward to mcuh more next year!
