The train was headed north to Attapulgus, Georgia parallel with Pat Thomas Boulevard. That's when the conductor of the train noticed a male on the tracks. The train's emergency brakes were then applied but it was too late as the train struck the male.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released.
TPD is investigating any reason that the male would have been on the tracks and when more information is available it will be released.
TPD received the call at 10:20 p.m. Thursday.
