A group of deserving kids from Leon County, got to saddle up for a Red Hills Horse Trials styled event.
The Tallahassee Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Affairs Department along with the folks over at Elinor Klapp-Phipps Park, selected 26 kids from area community centers to join an overnight camp.
The camp trip included horseback riding, campfires, cook-outs and stargazing with the Tallahassee Astronomical Society.
Tracy Davis, assistant supervisor at the Sue Herndon McCollum Community Center says, "It's very important to us and the community to offer kids that don't have the experience. Or have the opportunity to get out in the woods or ever have the opportunity to get out and ride a horse."
The event was made possible by the International Red Hills Horse Trials and was free of charge to the kids and chaperones.
