The Beau Turner Youth Center opened its gates this weekend for an Annual Outdoor Experience.

It was held at the conservation center located in Jefferson County and offered activities that everyone in the family could enjoy.

The Outdoor Experience focused on teaching kids how to appreciate and respect the great outdoors.

Those who came out Saturday got to participate in fishing competitions, Olympic-style archery, shooting demonstrations, bouncy houses and hay rides.

Kenny Barker says, "Today we were able to have our fourth annual open house and it's an opportunity for these kids to come out and see what this center has to offer, and the turn out has been phenomenal."

The event is free and open to children of all ages.

Some lucky folks even have a chance to win a door prize of one free week of summer camp.

Big round of Applause to everyone involved. Its about time there is a POSITIVE spin on the "Outdoor Lifestyle" , so rare in todays Politics. The kids had a great time , learn ethics and appreciation for Nature. If the Country keeps going , we may NEED those skills to get by :)

Wish there was more news like this on a daily basis. We participated, and had an excellent time! A full of fellowship and fun for the family. Many kids were introduced to outdoor activities that they've never had a chance to participate in. Imagine, if good and happy news like this prevailed ove the bad every day.....
