[UPDATE] 5-18

Just after one Tuesday afternoon, Lowndes County deputies say they responded to a home invasion on Ousley Road.

They say a couple living at the house were tied up and the man living in the home was hit in the head several times.

Officers later arrested Clinton Davis and James Edwards in Quitman. Investigators say the home invasion was not a random act of violence.

A neighbor Richard Miller says, "My only concern would be that this could happen again and my family could be tied up, robbed. But this is a quiet neighborhood."

Deputies say Davis and Edwards are charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault and burglary. They're behind bars at the Lowndes County.

Lowndes County, Georgia -

On Tuesday, May 17, at around 1:00 PM, the female resident at 8000 Ousley Road answered a knock at the door and after opening the door two {2} males, whom she did not know, rushed inside the home armed with a handgun and a knife. The female and her boyfriend, who both live in the home, were moved to a room within the home and tied up. The male victim was struck several times in the head and did require medical attention. The unknown males searched through the home and removed items of property that they loaded into their vehicle, which they had parked in the driveway. The males soon fled the residence but the victims were able to free themselves and obtain a vehicle description as they called 9-1-1 for assistance.

Communications personnel from the Lowndes County 9-1-1 Center dispatched deputies, and an ambulance, and immediately notified the surrounding law enforcement agencies. Shortly after deputies and investigators arrived at the Ousley Road residence, an officer with the Quitman Police Department spotted the vehicle and performed a traffic stop. The driver and passenger of the vehicle were identified and subsequently searched. A quantity of marijuana was recovered and the two {2} males were arrested. The vehicle was secured and towed by the Quitman Police Department.
Investigators and deputies from the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office traveled to Quitman and the two men were interviewed. The items described as having been taken from the Ousley Road residence were also recovered from inside the men’s vehicle.

Arrested was Clinton Davis, who is also known as Robert Evans, DOB: 01-18-1981, provided no address at the time of his arrest. Investigation has shown that he is from Madison County, Florida.

James Edwards, DOB: 11-30-1963, provided an address of 412 South West Lee Avenue, Madison, Florida at the time of booking.

Both men have been charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime and burglary. Additional charges may be sought as this investigation continues.
