2 Women Arrested for Drugs, 11-month-old Baby in Back Seat of Car

Marianna, Florida - August 15, 2011 -

On August 14th, 2011 officers with the Marianna Police Department observed a suspicious vehicle parked in the Riverside Cemetery, located off of Bertram Street. When officers approached the vehicle, they could smell the odor of Marijuana emitting from inside the vehicle.

Officers identified the driver of the vehicle as Bridget Russell who was accompanied by a passenger, Chasity Daniels. Also located in the vehicle was an eleven month old child which was sitting in the back seat of the vehicle. Officers began a search of the vehicle and were able to locate several pieces of marijuana cigarettes, items of paraphernalia, and marijuana which was wrapped in a plastic bag.

During the investigation, officers determined that both subjects had been smoking marijuana inside the vehicle while the child was present. Officers were able to arrest both subjects for Child Abuse and Russell was additionally charged with Possession of Marijuana Less Than 20 Grams and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Russell and Daniels were transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance.
