Lowndes County, Georgia - October 21, 2011 -

Startling new details about a suspected arson in Valdosta.
Three men and a teenager are in jail for setting someone's house on fire.
But a neighbor tells WCTV that one of the suspects used to live in the home.
"And we came out and the house was just engulfed in flames. 30 minutes we was in the house and the house was engulfed in flames."
Armogene Natson couldn't believe her eyes when she saw the house next door burn to the ground last week.
But she says she saw one of the suspects standing in her driveway that night: Tyler Daniel.
"Me and my husband were like 'why is he standing in the drive way'? You know, what is he doing here?"
Natson knows Daniel, she says that used to be his family's house.
There's no word on why Daniel's family moved out.
There was another family living there when it burned, but no one was home at the time.
Daniel along with Randy Riley, and John Smithey are all in jail.
There's a fourth suspect being held, he's 14 years old and deputies have not yet released his identity.
Each is charged with felony arson in the first degree.
"It's been scary ever since it happened because if someone would do something like that, you know that was just cruel."
Their arraignment was Thursday.
None of them made bond.
Right now the three adult suspects sit in Lowndes County Jail.
The juvenile is in the Thomasville Regional Youth Detention Center.
The next step for the case is sending it to a Grand Jury to review the evidence.

Lowndes County, Georgia - October 20, 2011 -

On October 11 personnel from Lowndes County Fire Rescue were summoned to 5024 Rocky Ford Road in reference to a structure fire. Although not a total loss, the home sustained extensive damage as a result of the fire and extinguishing efforts. An examination of the fire scene indicated that the cause of the fire was suspicious. The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office was notified.

During a joint investigation between law enforcement and fire, the cause of the fire was confirmed to be arson and an accelerant was detected at the scene. Other physical evidence was located that supported this determination. During the recent commercial burglary investigations information was obtained that indicated that the some of the same persons may have been involved.

As a result of the investigation, Tyler Daniel, Randy Riley, John Smithey and a juvenile were arrested and each charged with felony Arson in the first degree. The juvenile was transported to the Thomasville Regional Youth Detention Center and the other three remain in the Lowndes County Jail. The three adults will appear before a Magistrate Judge today for an arraignment hearing for the arson charge and a bond will be considered at that time.
