Marianna- April 13, 2012 -
From drugs to robberies, career criminal Lazaro Frias' was back behind bars Wednesday.
The Marianna Police Department said officers caught him burglarizing the ABS Office Supply Store off Lafayette Street early that morning.
Investigators said the man broke into the store through the back where an old A-C unit used to be, then using a hammer and some other tools, officers said they caught him breaking into the safe.
"I couldn't believe it. The police are out here all the time," said store owner Anne Yasaitis.
Investigators said they think Frias could also be tied to at least six other crimes in the area all within the past two weeks. But Police Chief Hayes Baggett said his criminal record stems back much further.
"His arrests stem back to 1989," said Baggett.
Since then Frias, who has family in Jackson County, has been in and out of jail more than twenty times.
"I think this individual does have a severe drug addiction problem," said Baggett.
Baggett said he hopes this time, Frias will spend more time off the street and behind bars.
"It's a substantial arrest for the community, the business owners," said Baggett.
A judge ordered Frias held without bond Thursday until his next court appearance. That date has not yet been set.
