[UPDATED 03/15 at 5:40 PM]

Deputies have released reports that 36-year-old LJ Brinson was arrested Sunday (3/13) afternoon for stealing a car earlier that morning.

They say he admitted to stealing the vehicle from a woman as she was pumping gas after being questioned in regards to a series of smaller weekend thefts in Thomasville.

TCSO says Brinson is behind bars at the Thomas County jail awaiting arraignment.

The case has been turned over to the Thomasville Police Department due to the number of in-city thefts Brinson is also charged with.

[UPDATED 03/14 at 9 AM]

The Thomas County Sheriff's Office says the incident that occurred yesterday morning involving a woman's car being stolen from the Thomasville travel center is now being considered theft of a motor vehicle, not a carjacking.

TCSO says force was not used when the car was stolen from its owner around 7:30 yesterday morning, therefore it does not classify as a carjacking.

Deputies say around 7:30 this morning a woman left her car running while pumping gas at the Thomasville travel center, and while her back was turned someone jumped in the car and took off.

The stolen car was discovered abandoned this afternoon (3/13) off Highway 188 near Coolidge.

Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call the Thomas County Sheriff's Office at (229) 225-3305.

GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT. Yes she left her car unlocked but turned off to go inside to PAY for gas. How many of you good rightous citizens have done the same thing but didn't get caught. You probably wouldn't admitt it. Don't cast stones unless you know the facts.

Everyone that has commented on this is stupid. This guy has committed many offenses in our community and I agree with Becky it did not give him the right to take her car.
