Press Release: Cook County Sheriff's Office

Sheriff Doug Hanks and the Cook County Sheriff’s Office announce the arrest of a Cook County Sheriff’s Office Detention Officer stemming from an investigation into inappropriate contact with inmates.

Bobbie Gail Moore, 39, of Hahira, GA, was arrested on Monday, October 28, 2013 at her residence without incident and charged with one felony count of giving false statements to a government agency. Moore was transported to the Cook County Jail where she was processed and booked. Moore was then taken to a neighboring agency where she was housed. At the time of this release she remains incarcerated awaiting bonding procedures.

The charge against Moore stems from a thorough internal investigation conducted when the Sheriff’s Office was made aware within the last week of allegations involving inappropriate physical contact between Moore and inmates housed at the Cook County Jail.

“We take these situations very seriously, as all of our employees, myself included, are held up to a high standard of conduct and incidents such as this violate the public’s trust and faith in law enforcement,” stated Sheriff Hanks. “It is important that the citizens know that we will act swiftly when we receive allegations of inappropriate conduct regardless of who is involved,” added Sheriff Hanks.

Moore had been a detention officer at the Sheriff’s Office for approximately six months and her employment was terminated with the arrest.
