Thomasville, Georgia - 2-29
Two people passing through Thomasville stopped to do more than just admire the scenery. The public indecency landed the couple in jail and has outraged some in the community.
Some might think it was daring or thrilling, while others find it appalling.
"I feel a bit disgusted honestly because that kind of stuff is supposed to happen behind closed doors," said William Woods, who works in Thomasville.
A couple passing through town stopped to engage in sexual intercourse behind a shopping center on US 19 south.
Randy Nevsimal of La Crosse, WI and Amber Hagen of Colorado Springs, CO were busted in the act by Thomasville police department last week.
"We received some calls from some citizens and the management at that business about a couple that was being indecent behind the business in a wooded area," said Lt. Eric Hampton of the Thomasville Police Department.
Police say they did not immediately see the couple in the field but that noises led them to their location.
"The officers asked them to get dressed, they did not ask them to come out where he or she embarrassed them, they asked them to put their clothes on and they arrested them."
Police arrested Haden and Nevsimal for public indecency which is a misdemeanor. For people like Woods, however, that punishment for public sex is not enough.
"If people just take it as a misdemeanor that's not a very serious offense, and if you keep going with it nothing serious is going to happen. I mean this kind of stuff can scar children for life."
