Crawfordville, Florida - June 13, 2012 -

Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a Crawfordville couple on felony drug charges Wednesday, June 13 after responding to a disturbance call at their home and discovering more than 100 grams of marijuana.

Bryan E. Hopson, 51, and Laura Diane Hopson, 57, were charged with possession of more than 20 grams of marijuana, possession of narcotics equipment and battery in the case.

Deputy Cole Wells and Lt. Jimmy Sessor responded to the disturbance call and while speaking to the couple Bryan Hopson reported that Laura had marijuana in her vehicle.

Three large bags of marijuana were observed in plain view inside the vehicle. Two more bags of marijuana were located inside the home along with drug paraphernalia. The marijuana weighed 102.5 grams. Neither suspect claimed the marijuana but due to both of the suspects being aware of the narcotics they were arrested and transported to the Wakulla County Jail without incident.

I'm willing to bet that these two people are quite familiar to the Crawfordville police authorities. They (the police department) most likely, when they get an order to respond to the a disturbance at the couple's residence, say "Oh, not those two again." No one at the department requires directions to the property. They just look at each other and say, "You go this time. I went the last time and the time before that." Nothing will keep these two apart except a "permanent" separation, when one is six feet under. Then, and only then, will they exit each other's lives forever. The dynamics between the two is too strong for an arrest, jail bars and court appearances. They're old potheads, and nothing this side of common sense will prevent them from continuing to engage in the volatile union that has defined their relationship.

Does anyone know if they are still in jail, or have they bonded out?

He punches her and is mad enough to make sure he's not the only one going to jail that night so he tells the cops she's got a bunch of pot in her car. What a fun home they must have. And it's the cops fault for arresting someone for possessing an illegal substance even though a few folks think it shouldn't be illegal? smh

I can't believe what I'm reading here. Is it against the law to possess pot in Wakulla County. I have never heard of someone being arrested down here for pot.

I support changes in Drug Policy and the inJustice system, however I do not condone domestic violence. These two got themselves caught. The LEO wasn't aware of the cannabis until they were told by the idiot husband. I'd be willing to bet alcohol, not cannabis, fueled the fight. As Bugs Bunny would say,"What a couple of Moroons".

Try not to be stupid. They fought enough to get the law called on them. The man said she had pot.You dont know they didnt have permission or probable cause. The real problem is some people are just STUPID. Pot is illegal. They made a Choice to break the law. Everyone makes choices everyday that will impact the rest of their life. Make the right choice. I live in Crawfordville and some of you make me shake my head.
