[UPDATE] Tallahassee Drive By Shooting Blamed on Gangs

[UPDATE] 3-18-2011 1:42 PM--

On March 16, 2011 the Leon County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 700 block of Putnam Drive in reference to a drive-by shooting incident. Arriving deputies learned that multiple shots were fired by juveniles Shaquille Reese and Xavion Jackson, who were riding in a burgundy Mitsubishi Galant as it passed by the residence. Two vehicles and the apartment building were struck by several bullets. Two people were outside the apartment when the shots were fired, but neither was struck.

Detectives obtained arrest warrants for Reese and Jackson on March 17, 2011. A Crime Stoppers tip received Thursday afternoon informed law enforcement that Reese and Jackson were in an apartment at 4495 Shelfer Road. Tallahassee Police Officers and Leon County Deputies responded to apartments on Shelfer Road and took the juveniles into custody without any further incident. They were turned over to Violent Crimes Detectives and taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center.

The burgundy Mitsubishi believed to be involved in the shooting was also recovered.

Sheriff Larry Campbell stated, “When concerned citizens get involved they provide valuable information to law enforcement. That is what happened in this case. We are all fortunate no one was hurt during
this senseless act.”

A drive by shooting in Tallahassee Wednesday night appears to be the work of gang members, deputies say.

It happened at an apartment at 735 Putnam Street just after four p.m.

Deputies say two cars drove up and someone in a burgundy Mitsubishi opened fire on two men outside apartment #1.

No one was hit and no one was hurt, but deputies are now looking for two 16 year olds. They will face attempted murder charges when they are caught.

We're still awaiting further details and word on the suspects' identities.

to hma. Now you see what the community think about your common names do your research. As they say its not what you name the child its how you raise them to be.

Start arresting their sorry parents too. Maybe then they'd start acting like parents, enforce curfews, and whip some butts into obedience. Kids are allowed to to rule the roost these days. Spare the rod and you get a screwed up society along with spoiled children. The courts need to start coming down on these kids hard. Stop patting them on the wrist and make them PAY for their wrongs by working to clean up society.

These kids did something very stupid and they'll learn from their mistakes. Most kids do! We were all that age once and did things we often would regret. I wish the best for them and pray they never do anything like this again.

No matter what race a person is everyone needs Jesus. Jesus is the only ONE who can reform a person. I believe only a remant of preachers are teaching the truth. You don't hear about sin, holiness and obedience living. These kids need parents to teach and show the truth by living an obedient life to Christ, but an oxymoron is that babies are being born to one parent under adultress arrangements so what do you expect. True holy families will cover their children and produce holy children. Plain and simply. No amount of pschology or drugs will help these children only God can do it. God Bless these children and their families....

Don't pull the racism card. Statistics don't lie.

If you haven't noticed under every crime blog there are RACISTS comments. No point of having an argument about them cause we should all be a little use to it. Not saying I like it but it's true. And I'm sad to say half the kids I went to school with are either on probation or in jail. I do think it's a lack of discipline. Not in every case though because you do have parents that try and kids will ultimately make their own decision you just try and guide them and hope they do what's right.

Ridiculous comments: I am a 39 yr. old African American Man, married with 2 kids. My comment was not meant to be racist, it was just an observation. The "Thug" menatlity that seems to be so popular among A.A. youth is one of the things that keeps real racism alive. Denying that a problem exists will not make it go away.

Thug Mentality! I see a ton of beautiful kids every single day...3/4 are African American. Many dress, act and talk the "thug" thing - when they are with their friends. Dealing with them separately, talking to them respectfully, treating them like they DO have a brain and a future - you get a WHOLE different child. As for their parents, all I have ever had to do to get "more controlled deportment" from the children is threaten to call their parents. They do not want that!!

We don't have any idea what our world is coming to. Between the drugs, no education (due to drugs and no family life.) The poor and uneducated are popping out kids 3x faster and they aren't being raised. We used to have the 3 r's at school, now its 4r's reading, writing, rithmitic, and raising for the teachers. God bless all teachers and educators, I know you are trying but sometimes it seems that the government is just making you spin your wheels.

Interesting that everyone immediately knew who did the "drive by", and almost as fast they knew where these 2 wannabe hoodlums were. I wouldn't be surprised if they were on the phone bragging about it while they were doing it!
