Valdosta, Georgia - December 28, 2011 -
On December 27, 2011 at approximately 3:08pm, the Valdosta Police Department (VPD) responded to a call in reference to a concerned citizen witnessing four African American males running from behind 1740 Jimmy Carter Drive into the woods, carrying two flat screen televisions and an Xbox Game System. Officers responded to the area, the two flat screen televisions were located in the woods and a short time later with the assistance of the VPD K-9 Units; four African American male juveniles who matched the description given by the witness were located and detained. All four were identified as the persons seen running into the woods and they were transported to the Valdosta Police Department for questioning by the Property Crimes Unit. After questioning and contact with the Department of Juvenile Justice, all four juveniles were transported to the Lowndes County Jail. All four of the offenders are being charged with Burglary and one of them is also being charged with Possession of Marijuana. The offenders were caught and the property recovered due to the call by the concerned citizen, the additional burglary patrols being utilized during the holiday season, and the outstanding job by VPD Patrol and Investigations.
