[UPDATED] 9/26/2011 -- 5:30 PM --
Grady County Sheriff Harry Young says his deputies got a call from the woman about Dove making threats. Young says when they arrived, Dove had destroyed items in the woman's home, including a TV, sleep apnea machine, beds, sofas, a CD player, and a fish tank.
Young says Dove never physically harmed the woman. He says she called deputies to have Dove removed from her home when his presence there made her fear for her life.
[UPDATED] 9/26/2011 -- 11:30AM --
Grady County Sheriff Harry Young has confirmed that wanted man Danny Dove turned himself in early yesterday (9/25) morning.
Young says Dove had been hiding in the woods off Strickland Road in Whigham, Georgia since September 7, 2011.
He had been staying with a woman who lives on Strickland after he served 14 years in federal prison for aggravated assault.
Investigators say Dove got into an argument with the woman, then he beat her up, cut off his parole ankle monitor, and fled the home.
When he decided to turn himself in yesterday (9/25), Dove went to another home on Strickland Road and asked the residents there to call the authorities.
He remains at the Grady County jail. Bond has been denied.
[UPDATED] 9/9/2011 -- 5:45PM ---
**WCTV mistakenly reported last night (9/8) that GCSO is looking for a "David Dove." The parole violator they are actually searching for is named Danny Dove. We apologize for any confusion this has caused.**
The Grady County Sheriff's Office is on the hunt for a man they're calling 'very dangerous.'
Deputies say Danny Dove cut off his ankle monitor Wednesday (9/7) and has been on the run ever since.
He was last seen at a house on Strickland Road in Whigham, Georgia.
Earlier today (9/9) deputies thought they'd found Dove, but it was a false alarm.
GCSO Chief Investigator Steve Clark says, "It is our opinion that [Dove] doesn't want to go back to prison. He has no family here, he has no relatives here. All his family and relatives are, to my understanding, out of Tift County, so he's probably trying to make his way back to, we think, Tift County."
Dove got out of prison six weeks ago after serving 14 years for aggravated assault.
GCSO says Dove is about 5'7", 170 pounds, with blue eyes, and light hair. He may have some burn scarring on his face.
Anyone who sees Dove should not approach him. They should call local law enforcement immediately.
