Greensboro, FL -- August 30, 2011 - 11:20am -
UPDATE 08-30-2011 at 6:00pm by Jerry Askin
Just after 7:00 Sunday evening, Gadsden County sheriff deputies arrested Chief Hall and his wife.
Tim's wife told deputies the two were arguing over a doctor's appointment at their home. She says she attempted to leave the home and Tim physically held her to stop her from leaving.
"There's always two sides to every story, but still the major thing is he's still an officer of the law - and people tend to lose respect for that when they do things they can be arrested for," says Greensboro resident Barbara Lemieux.
Deputies say they arrived at the home to find Tim's right eye bruised and scratches on Marsha's neck. Marsha claims Tim choked her about 10 times and she punched him in self defense.
Tim claims he did not choke his wife and only restrained her to keep her from beating him anymore. He told deputies she ran him over with a jeep as she was leaving.
"If he gets charged with it, I guess he should deal with it like everyone else I guess," says Greensboro resident Don Dempsy.
Deputies ordered Chief Hall to leave the home for the night so his wife could get some rest. But both of them were arrested when Chief Hall returned to the house late that night and the couple got into another fight.
Barbara Lemieux has lived in Greensboro for more than 50 years. She says she knows all too well how dangerous those fights can be.
"I've been a victim of domestic violence and it's not a good thing," says Lemieux.
Greensboro Police Chief Tim Hall and his wife Marsha Hall have both been released from the Gadsden County Jail on bond. As for Timothy Hall's future as police chief, that's still to be determined by the Greensboro Town Council.
Greensboro Police chief Timothy Hall and his wife Marsha Hall are arrested after a Sunday night argument over a Monday morning doctors appointment.
The police report says Marsha Hall attempted to leave her husband Tim and that's when police say he physically held her to stop her from leaving. Tim told police the argument continued outside and she ran him over with a jeep. His wife Marsha claims that Tim choked her over 10 times and that she punched him in self defense. Marsha was taken to the hospital and they were both arrested shortly after.
Coming up tonight, you'll hear from residents about the incident.
