Greensboro, FL -- August 30, 2011 - 11:20am -

UPDATE 08-30-2011 at 6:00pm by Jerry Askin

Just after 7:00 Sunday evening, Gadsden County sheriff deputies arrested Chief Hall and his wife.

Tim's wife told deputies the two were arguing over a doctor's appointment at their home. She says she attempted to leave the home and Tim physically held her to stop her from leaving.

"There's always two sides to every story, but still the major thing is he's still an officer of the law - and people tend to lose respect for that when they do things they can be arrested for," says Greensboro resident Barbara Lemieux.

Deputies say they arrived at the home to find Tim's right eye bruised and scratches on Marsha's neck. Marsha claims Tim choked her about 10 times and she punched him in self defense.

Tim claims he did not choke his wife and only restrained her to keep her from beating him anymore. He told deputies she ran him over with a jeep as she was leaving.

"If he gets charged with it, I guess he should deal with it like everyone else I guess," says Greensboro resident Don Dempsy.

Deputies ordered Chief Hall to leave the home for the night so his wife could get some rest. But both of them were arrested when Chief Hall returned to the house late that night and the couple got into another fight.

Barbara Lemieux has lived in Greensboro for more than 50 years. She says she knows all too well how dangerous those fights can be.

"I've been a victim of domestic violence and it's not a good thing," says Lemieux.

Greensboro Police Chief Tim Hall and his wife Marsha Hall have both been released from the Gadsden County Jail on bond. As for Timothy Hall's future as police chief, that's still to be determined by the Greensboro Town Council.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Greensboro Police chief Timothy Hall and his wife Marsha Hall are arrested after a Sunday night argument over a Monday morning doctors appointment.

The police report says Marsha Hall attempted to leave her husband Tim and that's when police say he physically held her to stop her from leaving. Tim told police the argument continued outside and she ran him over with a jeep. His wife Marsha claims that Tim choked her over 10 times and that she punched him in self defense. Marsha was taken to the hospital and they were both arrested shortly after.

Coming up tonight, you'll hear from residents about the incident.

I've seen a number of posts asking how Mr. Hall got hired in the first place. Look no further than the city counsel to find the answer. There have been recent problems the counsel must be aware of but no corrective action has been taken. Sometimes the worst thing to do is ignore a problem and hope it corrects itself.

Crazy. Both of them just got Baptized at Thomas Memorial Baptist Church earlier this month. Now this?? I can't judge them because I've been there. I just hope they both find a way out of this and away from each other. They seem to be toxic to one another.

I have known this family my entire life. The Halls are some good old folks. i really can't believe some of this comments that are pure darn right out mean and hurtful. We are all human beings that have feelings. We all have our down falls and no one said we are perfect. We make mistakes and we all learn from them. There is always two sides to a story. You can not make judgement on someone and who give you the rights to do so anyway. No one can pass judgment but God his self. Mr. Tim Hall is a very good man and has serve this county very well as a law enforcement who has gave more then he should but he loves his job and what he does he takes very serious. Hang in ther Tim and don't let all these stupid people with all this dumb comments bring you down you and your family are well better then that. Keep your head held high and all this shall pass. Put it in to God's hands. Prayers moves mountains and with God all things are possible. Trust me God will get each and everyone of this people who are rude and hateful they will have to face judgement themselves.

I agree. Sounds like he got a lil power and when his wife decided she had enough and was gonna leave, he decided to play SPEED BUMP! I just wish Gadsden Co. wouldn't suspend him w/pay, the county needs the funds for IMPORTANT things, like grammar/spelling re education for most of it inhabitants.

If a man gets "turned into a wifebeater" it's his fault. Just like all the other wifebeaters. It does not matter what turned them into one.

That is proper protocol until the investigation is complete. If you were in his position would YOU want to be judged guilty BEFORE all the facts were in??? I think not!!!!!!!

i have known Tim Hall and family for alot of years and always thought the world of them. I do not know what happened between him & Marsha, but sounds like they BOTH could use prayers right now. As for the person who said they (Hall men) all had arrest records, what Public Record are you getting for information from?
  • by NOT SURPRISED!! Location: Quincy on Aug 31, 2011 at 08:00 AM
These two people are technically grown ups and they are the only two who know what actually happenned. However, if any of you know them/(HER) very well, you knew the MELTDOWN was coming. Track records do not lie!! Once the financial pressure in a relationship peaks for her she is on to another man. Someone who will house her and pay for her living expenses and habits! Financial difficulty lately with a community benefit were clearly indicators that the meltdown was close by. All you past "guy friends/boyfriends" out there beware!! She's bound to be looking for another FREE ride. Christmas is just a few months away and she ALWAYS has to provide a BIG Christmas for all. Wake up guys!

It's domestic and he can't be an officer in Florida with a domestic violence charged against him. Chief was told to leave the residence to cool off, but he came back. Is Chief above the law? Why did they charge him with false imprisonment or trespassing after warning? Oh, he's the Chief. If it was Midway former Chief and he was on the force still. They would have made an example out of him. Since Chief Hall does what Sheriff Young wants. He will not have any actions taking against him. Last, those deputies that arrested Chief might be cut off the force because Young doesn't believe in his staff taking actions. All they do is sit back and burn gas on the citizens.

Well, from what I hear, the former Chief of Midway would not have had any qualms about traveling to another jurisdiction to make an arrest. Ha! Surely you and the former Chief of Midway know that your suggestion of the charges of false imprisonment and trespassing after warning would have not held up in court, as they do not meet the statutory requirements. Anyone with any "experience" would know this. Perhaps you and the former Chief of Midway should brush up on your LEO skills, not to mention your sentence structure, before you pop off with lame allegations and failed attempts at being halfway articulate. Which by the way, are solely fueled by your own personal bitterness towards Sheriff Young and Sheriff Campbell for that matter, who called you and/or the former Midway Chief out on not being able to cut the mustard as a Law Enforcement Officer. Grow up dude, and come back when you can propose a halfway intelligent argument.
