A large kitchen knife turned into a weapon during an argument early Friday morning.
Deputies say the man who wielded that weapon is still in the community.
The woman who lives in the house where it all happened says a joke turned into an argument between two men and one of the men ended up lying on the ground in her front yard bleeding.
"The guy stabbed him and hauled butt." Says Sharon Grimes.
Sharon Grimes says her grandson told her an acquaintance, 38-year-old Miguel Rivera, had been stabbed.
Grimes says, "As soon as my grandson woke me up, I ran out the door and seen him laying on the ground in my front yard. It really freaked me out. I didn't know whether the guy was dead or what. It was a lot of blood laying around him."
Leon County Sheriff's deputies say Rivera came to 1740 Oak Ridge Road, off Woodville Highway around six Friday morning and woke up 22-year-old Robert Udell to 'talk' to him.
Deputies say the two men took their argument outside.
But, as Rivera turned away, deputies say Udell took a large kitchen knife, walked up behind Rivera and stabbed him.
Grimes says, "My grandson is real shaken up about it. I'm shaken up about it because it happened on my property."
Deputies say Rivera was taken to the hospital with the knife still sticking in his upper chest/shoulder area.
Leonard Wilkes is a neighbor. He says, "We didn't know what was going on. But, there's all the time things happening over at this house next door. Sometimes you feel like you're pinned up in your own yard and you worry what's going to happen next."
Grimes says several other people were in the home at the time of the stabbing. She says no one other than the victim was harmed.
We're told Rivera is doing okay.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Robert Udell is asked to call the Leon County Sheriff's Office or Crime Stoppers at 850-574-TIPS.
