South Georgia authorities recover over 50-thousand dollars IN stolen property. And now two suspects are charged with burglary.
As Eyewitness News Reporter Gabrielle Sarann tells us, the items are at the Sheriff's Office where they can be reclaimed.
Stolen tires, car parts, electronics and guns are just a few of the items Lowndes County deputies sorted through Monday morning. All recovered from this house on Southers Lane.
Wanda Edwards, LCSO. says, "The grounds were full of stolen items. There was a shed outside that had stolen items. There was stolen items in the house and stolen items all over the yard in the car port."
Investigators arrested 30-year-old Travis Spikes and 31-year-old Phillip Barnes last week for burglarizing at least ten area homes.
And now the Sheriff's Office is storing these items until they're picked up by their rightful owners.
Burglars stole everything from televisions and laptops to an electric guitar. They even stole a stick of deodorant from one local house.
Surprise and relief didn't keep some Southers Lane neighbors from speaking out against a now-busted theft ring in their own backyards.
Sara Pinkston, a neighbor, says, "That's ridiculous. There've been so many break and entries. They've probably taken these things from old peoples houses."
June Randolph, another neighbor, adds, "I'm glad to see our Sheriff's Office is doing such a great job for for people like us who can't replace those things. And to stop the burglaries before someone gets hurt."
Spikes and Barnes were denied bond and remain behind bars at the Lowndes County Jail.
The Sheriff's Office encourages citizens to reclaim their property. For more information, call the department at 229-671-2900.
