Tallahassee, FL - A former Florida teacher who thought he was chatting with a 12 year old girl online now sits behind bars.

Tallahassee Police have arrested 43 year old Joseph Collins.
And thanks to a tip from a viewer who called us we now know where he used to teach.

Jackson County School Superintendent Steve Benton confirmed to WCTV that Collins was the former head football and baseball coach at Grand Ridge in Jackson County, Florida.

Collins no longer works at the school though his picture is still on the school's website.

Now police says it started from a post from an undercover investigator posing as a 12 year old girl on a website.

According to police, Collins started communicating with the undercover investigator on Monday.

The probable cause report says on Tuesday, Collins sent a picture exposing himself.

On Wednesday, Collins started describing sex acts he wanted to do with the child. On Thursday police arrested him.

Superintendent Benton says Collins' contract was not renewed last spring and hasn't worked at the district since May. Grand Ridge is an elementary and middle school that houses 600 students from grades kindergarten through 8th grade.

A man claiming to be a former teacher and football coach for Gadsden County Schools has been arrested and charged with crimes related to attempting to solicit sex acts with a child.

43-year-old Joseph Collins began conversations with what was advertised online as a 12-year-old girl on August 5, 2013.

The 12-year-old girl chatting with Collins was, in fact, all part of an undercover investigation targeting individuals who use e-commerce sites for the purpose of sexual contact with a minor.

Over the course of the investigation, Collins chatted about different sexual acts and sent lewd photographs, including one of what he says was his wife performing a sex act on him.

Collins was arrested on August 8, 2013, and is being charged with 2 counts of Online Soliciation of a Minor, 4 counts of Transmission of Harmful Materials to a Minor, and Unlawful Use of a 2-Way Communications Device.
