Man Arrested For Stealing Copper at Cell Tower Sites

Jackson County, Florida - October 4, 2011 -

On October 3, 2011, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a theft at a cell phone tower located on State Road 69 South of Grand Ridge, Florida. Responding deputies observed that a large amount of copper wiring had been stolen from the site. Further investigation revealed that copper stolen from this site had been sold on the same date to a local recycling facility. Records obtained from the recycling facility enabled deputies to identify Christopher Dominy as a suspect in the case. Further investigation revealed that Christopher Dominy had committed thefts at eight separate cell phone tower sites, resulting in thousands of dollars in damage at each site. Dominy sold the stolen copper from each theft to a local recycling facility. Christopher Dominy has been charged with burglary, grand theft and eight counts of dealing in stolen property. This investigation is ongoing and further charges are pending in this case.
