Local Man Arrested For Stealing Vehicles With Wrecker

Lowndes County, Georgia - June 28, 2011 -

In recent months the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office has received numerous reports of vehicles having been stolen, after being left unattended on the roadside due to a mechanical issue, or taken from residential yards.

On Monday, June 27 a deputy with the Uniform Patrol Division of the Sheriff’s Office observed one of the vehicles on the back of a wrecker, owned by Miguel Gaspar, parked at 4325 Johnson Road South. Additional investigation resulted in a thorough search of the property and the recovery of ten {10} vehicles reported to have been stolen from the South Georgia area. These vehicles were towed from the residence and secured pending additional investigation. The various law enforcement agencies were notified of the recovery and are working closely with Lowndes County authorities.

Miguel Gaspar has been charged with multiple counts of possessing stolen property and one {1} count of motor vehicle theft. All of the charges are felonies. Miguel Gaspar remains in the Lowndes County Jail and will be appear before a Lowndes County Magistrate Judge this afternoon for an arraignment.

    Whether he speaks English or not or if he is an American Citizen, he is a human being and to say things like you know this man if you don't is wrong. If he is illegal, maybe he was not aware of the laws. Though it is his fault you should not be so judgmental on his status. He should be treated like a normal person, tried as a normal person, answering for his crimes the law sees fit based on his actions and mental status the same as that of any criminal.

    This man is definitely in a world of trouble, but we have known him a good year....or thought we knew him....but what we DO know of him, is he has a big and kind heart. Always looking out for us. We are certainly sorry he fell onto such hard times to have to turn to this. We wish him the best and hope to be able to visit with him again soon. Best of luck Miguel!!

    I know him and he is a very nice man that made a mistake. I am totally shocked! Don't judge until the whole story comes out. There may be more to it that what has been reported.

    Miguel look up and give us your best smile. Is Miguel an American by birth, naturalized citizen, or illegal immigrant? Should be prosecuted as such.
