Tallahassee, FL - At approximately 11:50 p.m. on April 8, 2011 the Leon County Sheriff’s Office investigated an attempted robbery at the Circle K store located at 5445 Capital Circle Southwest. According to the clerk, a man armed with a knife entered the store and demanded money. The clerk responded by throwing canned products at the would-be robber until he fled the scene on foot.
At approximately 11:30 p.m. on April 16, 2011, the same subject entered the Circle K store at 5445 Capital Circle Southwest. The man walked to the counter and asked for cigarettes. He then lifted his
shirt, displayed a handgun and demanded money from the cash register. The man left the business with the cigarettes and an undisclosed amount of money.
On April 21, 2011 Violent Crimes detectives arrested Cedric L. Plummer, 38, in connection with both robberies after Deputy Chris Poole recognized Plummer in surveillance photographs. A search warrant was also served at Plummer’s residence in the 4100 of Susan Avenue, where detectives located the clothing worn during the robberies as well as the weapon used in the second robbery on April 16, 2011. Plummer was questioned by detectives and admitted to his involvement in these incidents. Plummer was released from the Department of Corrections on March 14, 2011.
Sheriff Larry Campbell stated, “Deputy Poole was alert and remembered the defendant from a citizen contact just a few days earlier. It appears the defendant was going to continue this escalating activity until someone got hurt.”
