Berrien County, Georgia - December 30, 2011 -

A man is caught on camera stealing checks from a well know South Georgia farmer.

Berrien County deputies say Robert Paulk stole multiple checks from Carlos Vickers. Vickers was named Georgia's Farmer of the Year for 2011.

Deputies say Vickers got suspicious that someone was stealing from him and set up surveillance to catch the thief.

Paulk was arrested Wednesday and is still behind bars.

Tom- checks "were" forged; bank "would be" liable.

In fact, he forged $100,000 in checks that he stole from a customer - the Georgia Farmer of the year. He stole these checks and wrote them in $3000 and $5000 amounts. If he forged the signature of the Farmer, I would think the bank on which the checks were forged would be liable for cashing them and should have forgery insurance to cover themselves. Surely the farmer would not leave signed blank checks in a drawer.

@Heath, I've worked for multiple employers that leave signed checks to use as needed for petty cash and to pay bills/expenses. It always made me so very nervous, because I never wanted to be accused of stealing them. Yes, it is done.

Im sorry Tom but your comment is stupid. Whats the difference in the amount. Stealing is stealing. Why would you assume the amounts was small. Some people needs to stop commenting especially when you make insane comments. Just saying.

Until he forged the checks, all he took was paper. Yes, stealing is stealing, but until he wrote any checks, the loss was pennies. What's stupid is your illiteracy. Learn how to use "was" vs. "were" before you post. Apparently you "stole" your education.
