A Tallahassee man is arrested and accused of downloading and sharing pornographic pictures of children.

He initially claimed it was an accident, but investigators say he couldn't explain numerous searches for hardcore kiddie porn.

Investigators knocked on the door of this home on San Mateo Court Tuesday afternoon. The man who answered was soon under arrest and doing his best to explain why there may be pornographic movies and pictures of children on his computer.

28 year old Keith Kirkpatrick is facing both child porn possession and distribution charges. Agents say one of the lewd images even shows a young child in a car seat.

"I was totally suprised. I had no idea," said neighbor Alexa Warwick. "I had seen kids out in the front yard. They were rebuilding their deck over there. Never thought anything bad of them."

Arrest papers say Kirkpatrick initially claimed to have bought the computer from Craig's list, but later admitted he got it at Best Buy.

Agents say he had no explanation for at least three searches for pre-teen porn and could not explain files shared just one day before his arrest.

"One of the indications that Mr. Kirkpatrick gave was that he had accidentally downloaded some child pornography," said TPD Spokesman David Northway.

TPD investigators confirm there are children living in Kirkpatrick's home but say all the porn appears to be downloaded from the internet.

Court records show Kirkpatrick has been released from jail on $35,000 bond.

He is facing ten charges right now, but police say they are still examining the computers taken from his home and other charges are possible.

"They have a pretty normal, suburban family look. It's really surprising," Warwick said.

On February 28, 2012 the Tallahassee Police Department in conjunction with the North Florida Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force or ICAC, including ICE, FDLE and LCSO served a search warrant at the residence of an identified computer which was sharing child pornography files. The search warrant resulted in the arrest of Keith Kirkpatrick.

“Protecting our children is one of the highest priorities at TPD, and we will continue to pursue these cases in the future with ICAC.” said Chief Dennis M. Jones.

The probable cause for the case is attached to this release.

Ok a good resource for the defense. Adobe Dreamweaver is what people use to develope websites. The have an abobe tv(google it) that has instructors that do free videos to show you how to use the products and what all they are cable of. The people that work for adobe are beyond brillaint if I were the defense I would go to them first for my defense. But to all you all reading this article if you spend some time watching those training videos you can get an idea as to what web design is an how this could happen to any of us. Google adobe tv and than other products look at the photoshop videos and the dreamweaver videos than make your conclusion on his guilt or innocence.

You all think a .jpg file is permenat. It is not. You can download a jpg file in photoshop composite another image on top of the original image than repost the jpg file to the internet and you have a differnt image for someone else to download in thier photoshop tweak as they may want and reload it to the internet and some case you are actually changing the pixels. JPF files are not uneditable.

and to see the evidence of that you LCSO would have to get a serch warrant not just for my computer put everyone computer that may have edited and reloaded that photo and the would have to get a search warrant for the hosting company storing and serving all this data. No I don't believe they are able to get all those seach warrant especailly as some of these my be international computers sorry what ever their so call procedure is it is limit to thier jurisdiction not some server serving images from Japan

I and I am sure many others do not know what a torrent is. Stop trying to make out like you are all that and a box of Craker Jacks and it is to hard to explain and just tell us layman what is a torrent.

Who is doing the intial loading of the images onto the web tp beging with? Why are they not being prosecuter. I mean how do you defend that question when a defense attorney argues that Law Enforcement loaded the images and entrap his client. I mean this is just a wast of money. We are broke and the explaination are endless and like I said I am just a webdeveloper novalist....let someone with some real no how step up and the list of reasonable explaination of how images can be loaded on to your computer without your knowledge will be endless. There is no way to tell where the images came from and who put them on this guys computer.
  • by A hosting company had to of store the image on thier server first inorder for the image to be served why is the state attorney not prosecuting them? on Mar 1, 2012 at 12:51 PM
Nobody intentionally downloads a virus, yet all the time people get virus downloaded on thier computer. The coding in the web page can be what tell your computer to download something to your hard drive....not you.

That is what I never understand is why the don't go after the suppliers and makers of the stuff. I guess the cops on these cases don't fully understand how the internet works.

That would mean they would have to do some actual Investigating and that takes to long. This way, they can add another Arrest to their tally. Same reason why they go after the Drug Users before the Drug Makers.

Listen php code can download things to your computer without you clicking on anything. Alll you have to do is open a browser and the webdesidgner could have written a code to automatically download an image to your server when you do that. The user is not the one that determines what is downloaded to his computer the coder of the web page you are looking at is. And the server stored that image on a server before it got to this guys computer so why are the not going after the hosting company's because they are the ones storing and serving the image for public consumption in the first place.

Yes, you can load a page 42 times and the code in the page can tell the server to store an image, an image possibly completely unrelated to the page you are viewing, to your server. Yes it can be done. I am a novelist web designer and I am telling you the code not the user tell the server what images to store on your computer

I have known Keith and the family for years and never would have suspected this. Hoping and praying there are other explanations other than what seems like the obvious here. Suppose we will see when the details come out.

See that is what I am saying. We don't know he did this. There could be a million explaination as to how this stuff got served to his hard drive by a hosting(serving)company. A Hosting company is something like GoDaddy. Those companies store and serve web pages and images. There are millions of them and they are international so I doubt seerioulsy TPD can get a search warrent for a hosting company serving web pages and image to the internet from let's say China.

Perv boy needs to go to Belle Glade prison. I know of some things they teach "PREDOPHILES"! Please don't let this one go on to do worse. I promise you they never stop. Only "graduate" to the next level of their sickness.
