Valdosta, Georgia - June 10, 2011 -

On June 10, 2011 at approximately 0020 hours, the Valdosta Police Department received a call in reference to a robbery at the Flash Foods, 1201 N. St. Augustine Road. Officers arrived and were advised by the clerk, Robbie Anderson, that a white male came into the store, demanded the money in the cash drawer at knifepoint, then got into a Ford Taurus and left traveling north on Gornto Road. Other law enforcement agencies in the area heard the call and started looking for the vehicle. A Georgia State Patrol Trooper spotted a vehicle matching the description at the intersection of Gornto Road and Jerry Jones Drive and conducted a felony traffic stop with the assistance of a Remerton Police Officer. One of the occupants in the vehicle, Jeffery Allen Shields, W/M, 54 years of age, was identified as the offender. Detectives from the Valdosta Police Department and Crime Scene Technicians from the Valdosta-Lowndes Regional Crime Laboratory were called out to investigate. No other persons in the vehicle are suspected of being involved in the robbery and no one was hurt during the robbery. Shields, who is currently on parole, will be charged with Armed Robbery and Possession of a Firearm or Knife During the Commission of Certain Crimes. Shields was questioned and then transported to the Lowndes County Jail.

The Valdosta Police Department would like to thank the Georgia State Patrol, the Remerton Police Department, and the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in apprehending the offender.

Anyone having any further information regarding this crime or any other crime is urged to contact the Valdosta Police Department at 229-293-3145 or can remain anonymous at 229-293-3091.

In order to get unemployment you have to have worked. This guy was on parole, and probably found that he couldn't function outside of prison walls. It is easier to have someone (Correctional Officer) tell you when to get up, eat, shower, pee, and go to bed. Some people just can't handle being normal.
