Witnesses told police the two men had relationships and children with the same woman and believe that's what started the fight. Police later found Ford nearby with a gunshot wound to the elbow. Ford's attorney believes his client was defending himself.
Said Tim Jansen, Ford's attorney: "We believe he is entitled to a bond the state hurridely and the police hurridely filed charges and we asked for a hearing that was required by the rules of criminal procedure and we did not get that hearing today."
Ford is charged with homicide and carrying a concealed weapon and this isn't his first run in with the law. He's also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He had also been convicted before for possession of cocaine with intent to sell.
This shooting was just one of two from over the weekend in Tallahassee. Police also arrested a man named Seldrick Newby in connection with a homicide not too far from the Holton Street shooting.
