Arrest Made After Stabbing at Gadsden Liquors

Quincy, Florida - January 12, 2012

The Quincy Police Department responded to an emergency call last night (1/11/12) at 11:52PM at 961 E. Jefferson Street, Gadsden Liquors, after witnesses called reference a stabbing. Upon arrival officers found by-standers attempting to assist 55 year old John Harold Monk of Quincy who had suffered a very serious throat cutting at the hands of a “friend”. Witnesses later informed police that Monk and arrestee 40 year old John Walter Allen also of Quincy had both been at the business together socializing when Allen decided to leave and went outside to his vehicle leaving Monk inside. Realizing his friend Allen was leaving Monk went outside where the two men engaged in a physical altercation leading to Monk sustaining a severe cut to his throat area. Monk was life-flighted to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital where he was treated for his injuries. Allen remained on scene and was taken into custody by Quincy Police Officers. Allen was later charged and transported to the Gadsden County Jail. Police are still asking witnesses who may have seen the altercation to come forward.

Charge: Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon
