News Release: The Tallahassee Police Department

The Tallahassee Police Department was called to the USA Gasmart at 3434 Thomasville Road after the store clerk said she was robbed at gunpoint. The clerk told responding officers a male came to the register and raised his shirt revealing a handgun inside his waistline.

The man told the clerk to give him all of the money but the clerk refused. The counter is enclosed by a glass security wall with a sliding glass window for checking out customers.

The clerk closed and locked the window and the arrestee fled the scene without any merchandise or currency. TPD officers quickly set up a perimeter and the would be robber was caught approximately 2 blocks away by Officer Kutchera.

The man was in possession of a handgun, which was later determined to be a BB gun and was positively identified by the clerk.

Further investigation revealed the man served 4 years in the Georgia State Prison System for Armed Robbery and is currently on probation for five years (also out of Georgia) for Burglary.

A copy of the probable cause report is attached to this email.
