A shooting on Saxon Street happened in broad daylight as young children played nearby.

Tallahassee Police are not releasing any more information about it today, but witnesses tell us a man was pulled from his car, beaten and shot.

"I just heard pop, pop, pop, pop and I just ran out the door and started calling my daughters," said a woman who lives just a few doors down.

The woman and most of her neighbors are too scared to face our cameras, but what she and her children saw Wednesday night still makes her tremble.

"I come out my door and I seen a guy holding his neck and holding another part that was leaking blood and I just seen him collapse," she said.

Tallahassee Police were called to the scene at about 6:45 Wednesday evening. A gunshot victim was lying in the middle of Saxon Street. Officers aren't commenting on what happened.

Neighbors tell us two cars pulled up. One pulled in front of the man's car and another behind it.

"Like they almost had him blocked in like they didn't want him to go anywhere," the woman said.

Some witnesses saw the whole thing. They had plenty to say off camera. Several said a woman with a bat dragged the man out of his car and then a group of men and women got out of the other cars and attacked him.

"It's a lot for it to happen right here, you know, in broad daylight while the kids are out here playing. They have no regard for the kids or nothing," the woman said.

"I seen this guy laying down in blood. That's my first time ever seeing it. I don't want to ... it's not pretty. It's scary," neighbor Jewelry Holden said.

Holden takes care of children down the street.

"I'm afraid, I'm afraid for the kids, for my neighbors. I'm afraid. Something needs to be done about it," she said.

Tallahassee Police are not releasing the victim's name or any updates on his condition.

Okay, so the report says the woman used to live with the victim and had dated the guy that shot the victim. She has at least two kids that were in the car with her and witnessed everything. Their initials are EB and AN, neither of which last name initial matches the victim or the shooter. What kind of lifestyle does this indicate [rhetorical question]?

Stop being stupid. They are only doing this in broad day light in black neighborhoods because they know none of you all will tell anything. You all are your own worse enemy. Your silence enable their violence. Why are you all protecting them. Stop being stupid. Tell what you know or cry injustice when a black child accidentally get shot in the crossfire because you all know that is just a matter of time before that happens. If white men and women had done this you all would tell it.

You have no idea what you are talking about. If someone works 50 hours a week and after paying all the bills does not have enough money to feed their family they do need assistance, you should never have to decide between a home for your family or food and that is why food stamps and welfare was created to help those who are not fortunate enough to make enough money to support themselves even when they work full time.

The few that work 50 hours a week are not the problem. It's the other 98%.

Nonsense. If you can't afford to have children, don't have them. And guaranteed, if you have 3 of them by 3 different fathers by the time you're 21, you can't afford them! Get married before you have a child - 2 incomes helps, not to mention a committed relationship where BOTH parents want to have a child and desire to raise the child properly. We the taxpayers are tired of supporting this irresponsible lifestyle!

@Student That's the most ridiculous thing I have heard. You would have heard it reported on the news if white people did this. The media does not have a color person indicator. LOL!

The reason why the "so called" black leaders and black preachers are not in these areas is because they don't live in these areas; they and their families are not directly affected. Their churches are in these areas. They live in some of the upscale neighborhoods in Tallahassee. There are a few black preachers trying to help the residents but their resources are limited. Many times these preachers and community leaders are using funds from their pockets that they have earned from full-time jobs. Yes, there are blacks who actually have full-time jobs. I'm one of them and I do as much as I can to help all residents of my community. Some are white. This is not a black/white/hispanic problem. It's a community-wide problem. I sincerely pray we all some day soon understand this.
