Tallahassee, Florida - March 21, 2012 -

Last night at approximately 12:21AM, TPD was called to the area of 1325 Jackson Street for a prowler. The caller said he was sitting on the porch when he and his friend witnessed a man wearing a baggy blue shirt, blue jeans, with a bald head, who was about 5 feet 10 inches tall, going into driveways and pulling on car door handles. They said they approached the man, but he quickly walked away. Believing something was amiss, the witnesses’ called 911.

One of the responding police officers located a man fitting the description in the area and he was positively identified as the same man seen checking car door handles. He was arrested without incident and taken to the Leon County Jail. The probable cause for the arrest is attached to this release.

“This is another great example of our citizens using the “See Something, Say Something, Do Something” motto to get another criminal off our streets” said Police Chief Dennis Jones.

Luckily this guy did not prowl in Sanford or the neighborhood watch captain would have gunned him down. Come to think of it - not a bad idea when someone is actually committing a crime.

This is a perfect example of Neighborhood Watch. They saw the suspicious person and called the police. The very competent police found the person. Sanford, FL pay attention!!!

Glad he was not shot! The witness acted appropriately and phoned 911 and let law enforcement deal with him. My heart really hurts for the family and friends of the 17 year old!!

What 17 year old? I live in this neighborhood. And I am glad this person was caught. Our neighbor did the right thing, by calling 911. But we don't want vigilante law, with people walking around carrying guns and such. This is a good neighborhood. And we have a LOT of people that walk here. And children playing, we don't need guns & drive byes, because of someone thinking someone else is carrying a gun. Let the police handle things, just keep a watch out, and if something looks supecious, than call them, and let them do their jobs.
