TALLAHASSEE POLICE SOLVE MULTIPLE BANK ROBBERIES
Tallahassee, FL -- July 27, 2011 --
In a continuing effort to reduce violence and improve public safety within our community, the Tallahassee Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit worked diligently to resolve a series of bank robberies. In a collaborative effort with the U.S. Marshals Service, Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force and the Florida A&M University Police Department, four suspects have been arrested in connection with five robberies that occurred last year.
The following list of locations details the banks where the robberies occurred:
1) 05/25/10, Capital City Bank, 1828 W. Tennessee St
2) 07/01/10, Wachovia, 1701 W. Tharpe St
3) 08/17/10, Capital City Bank, 2020 W. Pensacola St
4) 11/17/10, Tallahassee State Bank, 1868 Capital Circle NE
5) 12/13/10, Capital City Bank, 3404 S. Monroe St. (Attempt)
Investigators focused on leads resulting from interviews with witnesses, forensic analysis of evidence, and ultimately making successful arrests to solve these cases. Chief Jones stated “We are proud of the ongoing commitment and effort that investigators continue to display to solve cases, make arrests, and ultimately reduce crime.” Multiple suspects played a collective role in each of the individual bank robberies. Suspects arrested and charged with robbery are:
ARRESTED: Spencer Shorter, Black Male, 6/18/1988
CHARGES: Armed Robbery with Firearm, Robbery No Firearm or Weapon (3 counts), Attempted Robbery No Firearm or Weapon
ARRESTED: Ivan Cunningham, Black Male, 8/27/1989
CHARGES: Robbery with Firearm, Robbery No Firearm or Weapon (3 counts)
