Associated Press Release
NASHVILLE, Ill. (AP) -- Illinois State Police say three Georgians were arrested after authorities found marijuana, about $25,000 in cash and an assault-style weapon in the men's rental car during a traffic stop in southern Illinois.
Police say the men, ranging in age from 27 to 19, were headed from Georgia to Colorado to buy marijuana when they were pulled over Tuesday on Interstate 64 in Washington County, east of St. Louis.
Police say the unidentified men aroused suspicion because they appeared nervous while being questioned. That prompted a search of their vehicle, where the money was found along with the assault-style rifle. Police say the driver also was carrying a handgun.
The driver is charged with possessing marijuana and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. The passengers are facing a marijuana-possession charge.
