Traffic Stop Near I-10 Leads to Cocaine Arrest

On June 1st, 2011 at approximately 8:34pm, Officers with the Marianna Police Department conducted a traffic stop on Penn Avenue under the Interstate 10 overpass. The traffic stop was made on a blue in color, Chevrolet S10, for the traffic infraction of failing to maintain a single lane of travel. Upon further investigation of the traffic stop, Officers obtain consent to search the vehicle from the driver. The passenger of the vehicle, Tommy Darrell Hill, was asked to step out of the vehicle for the purpose of conducting a search. When Hill exited the vehicle, Officers discovered Hill to be in possession of approximately 1.2 grams of powder cocaine. Hill was placed under arrest for Possession of a Controlled Substance (Cocaine) and transported to the Marianna Police Department for processing. Hill was later transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance.
