A shooting outside a Panama City Beach nightclub stemmed from an argument in Tallahassee.
Shots rang out in the parking lot of Spinnakers Tuesday night.
22 year old John Handford was shot in the chest but is expected to recover. He is in ICU at Bay Medical Center and listed in stable condition today.
The Panama City Beach police chief says both Handford and the men accused of shooting him are from Tallahassee.
The chief says the men argued earlier in the day at Wal Mart and when they crossed paths again at Spinnaker, it ended in gunfire.
Xavier Richards-Frost is accused of attempted murder. Justin Merriweather is accused of being a principal in that shooting.
The chief says both Merriweather and Richards-Frost list home addresses of 2421 Jackson Bluff Road in Tallahassee. That's the Seminole Suites apartments. He says Handford listed a home address just down the street.
Panama City, FL -- March 7, 2012 --
A Panama City man has been hospitalized with a gunshot wound to the chest and two Tallahassee men have been arrested following a shooting Tuesday night in the parking lot outside Spinnaker Beach Club, according to Panama City Beach police.
Police charged Justin Lorne Merriweather, 20, Tallahassee, with leaving the scene of an accident involving injury and principle to attempted murder.
Xavier Remy-Francis Richards-Frost, 19, Tallahassee, has been charged with attempted murder.
According to police, officers responding to reports of a shooting arrived at Spinnaker's parking lot along Thomas Drive and found John Handford, 22, Panama City, suffering from a single gunshot wound to the chest.
Police also found Benny Haisley, 31, Panama City, suffering from minor injuries to his foot after his foot was run over.
The two told police they had been involved in an altercation with two men in a car, who then left the parking lot and drove away. Police say the men drove back to the parking lot looking for Hanford and Haisley, at which time Frost allegedly shot Hanford, and Merriweather allegedly drover over Haisley's foot as he tried to block the car.
As Merriweather and Frost again drove away, police say a concerned citizen followed them and called 9-11. Merriweather was located and arrested by the Bay County Sheriff's Office, although Frost was no longer in the car when Merriweather was stopped.
Investigators later learned Frost was staying at a friend's room iat Beach Break by the Sea. They found him there and arrested him without incident.
None of the injuries suffered in the incidents are believed to be life-threatening.
Merriweather and Frost were booked into the Bay County Jail.
