[UPDATE] Valdosta Police Meth Lab Bust, 3 Arrested

On May 5, 2011 at approximately 3pm, the Valdosta Police Department Narcotics Unit served a search warrant at 1207 Gornto Road after receiving information that there was drug activity at that residence. 3 were arrested at the scene.

· Christopher Copeland, W/M, 38 years of age:

o Party to the crime of Manufacture of Methamphetamines

o Possession of Methamphetamines

o Possession of Tools of the Crime – Methamphetamines

o Violation of Probation

· Stephen Smith, W/M, 42 years of age, Valdosta resident :

o He rented the home:

§ Manufacturing Methamphetamines

§ Possession of Methamphetamines

§ Possession of Tools of the Crime – Methamphetamines

§ Obstruction of an Officer – he ran out the residence when officers served the search warrant

§ Possession of Dangerous Drugs

· Tyler Stokes, W/F, 18 years of age, Valdosta resident

o Party to the crime of Manufacture of Methamphetamines

o Possession of Methamphetamines

o Possession of Tools of the Crime – Methamphetamines

o Obstruction of an officer – she jumped out a window when detectives served a search warrant

VALDOSTA POLICE DEPARTMENT
PUBLIC INFORMATION RELEASE REPORT

On May 5, 2011 at approximately 3pm, the Valdosta Police Department Narcotics Unit served a search warrant at 1207 Gornto Road after receiving information that there was drug activity at that residence.

Detectives discovered that a methamphetamine lab was being operated inside the residence.

Christopher Copeland, Stephen Smith, and Tyler Stokes were all inside the residence and were arrested for crimes related to the investigation. The charges include the Manufacture of Methamphetamine (1count), Party to the Crime of Manufacturing Methamphetamine (2counts), Possession of Methamphetamine (3counts), Possession of Tools for the Commission of a Crime (3counts), Obstruction of a Law Enforcement Officer (2 counts), and Violation of Probation (1count). After being decontaminated, Copeland, Smith, and Stokes were transported to the Lowndes County Jail.

Drug agents are decontaminating 1207 Gornto Road, where they discovered a meth lab around 3 p.m. Thursday.

When they entered the home, police walked into heavy fumes and discovered meth cooking and ready for sale.

Officers say three suspects were arrested and will tentatively be charged with possession, trafficking and manufacturing methamphetamine.

Valdosta Police say it will take over nine hours to clean-up the scene.
