Man Survives Boxcutter Slashing Behind The Shelter

February 21, 2012 by Julie Montanaro

We have not been able to get an update on the condition of a man whose neck was slashed after a fight Friday night.

Tallahassee Memorial says it does not have a patient listing for Johnny Ellis and Tallahassee Police have not been able to update us on his condition either.

47 year old Walter Linton was arrested and charged with attempted murder in the wake of a stabbing behind The Shelter Friday night.

Arrest papers say victim Johnny Ellis was slashed in the back of the neck with a boxcutter. Officers described the wound as 3 1/2 to 4 inches long and an inch or more deep.

A witness told police the slashing followed a fight in the parking lot of the nearby Time Saver convenience store. The witness told police Linton was harrassing a woman and Ellis tried to intervene.

He says Linton later came up behind Ellis as he stood on the sidewalk near the shelter and slashed his neck.

Police found Ellis in the parking lot at Mike's Beer Barn.

Police found Linton on Macomb Street near the shelter. Officers say he had blood on both of his hands and a folding knife in his pocket.

Our first thoughts, whensomething lik this happens is to give-up on the person who committed the crime. If any of you believe in MOST HIGH GOD and you've been taught thedogmas of your faith. What if God gives-up on you the way that you all are giving u on him. And from a legal standpoint, after having advised Walter of his rights, the arresting officers should not have been asking questions anyway so that the media could sensationalize the incident in order to garner or elicit the most negative outlooks from all of the crackpots and idiots who have an opinion and computer and a whole lot of time. And we all know what they say about opinions...don't we?

First, I would like to extend a heart-felt prayer to Mr. Ellis that he recovers fully from this ordeal. Second, I want to pray for my brother who has found himself in such an unbeiveable and unacceptable circumstance. This my brother and I love him so I would apprecate if you people would keep your negative comments to yourselves. We were not there and don't know exactly what took place. And unless one of you gets picked to serve as a juror, you are the judge hearing his case or you are the prosecution; your opinions really don't mean squat! Life is filled with right decisions and wrong decisions;and unfortunately, my brother Walter Linton, chose wrongly. Who of you has never chosen wrongly? If so, I will fall down, to my knees and worship you.

This man is someones child, brother and he happens to be my uncle I dont think any of you are perfect so look in your own closets before you point the fingwer and judge the next man or woman are

And what relevance does your message hold? Don't say anything negative if you are not God? How . . . special, you must feel yourself to be that you believe your kin-criminal Uncle shouldn't be judged by his peers - huh? Pathetic. Absolutely pathetic. No wonder your race is stereotyped.

And anyway, what stereotypes would those be? C'mon... let's hear some more of your geat wisdom. I'm enthralled.....

We are commanded to judge fairly. You should have more concern for the victim than the attacker.

Homeless trash up a place bad. Like Murphy Oil on the Pkway by WalMart. I say, get the homeless to pick up the trash. Then they can police their own. Cuz nobody wants to pick up somebody else's trash. It looks like a trash dump going down the hill from the gas station to WM pking lot.

CALL YOUR CITY COMMISSIONERS - MAKE THEM DO THEIR JOB. MOVE THAT DAMMMN SHELTER AWAY FROM OUR STUDENTS! This could be your child next. That Shelter does not have to be in the middle of our town. Port St. Joe said they would not allow homeless shelters in their town. I think that's a good idea. Help them to move on. That's it.

This man should be locked up for a long time! Tallahassee needs to get their stuff together or before long we aren't going to be able to even walk down the street without having to worry if someone was going to shoot or stab us. Things are getting way out of hand!

he is a "gud" man ? Usually someone swinging a box cutter at your neck intends to "hert" them. I personally hope he doesn't get "bund"
