Buck Lake Rd Renovations Near Completion

Tallahassee, FL -- January 25, 2012 --

Renovations to Buck Lake Road are nearly complete.

At a ribbon cutting ceremony Wednesday dozens gathered at the intersection of Buck Lake Road and Pedrick Road to celebrate the completion of one of the final stages of the Buck Lake Road reconstruction project. The project includes turn lanes, bike lanes and wider sidewalks.

"Not only is it safe for their well-being, it's safe for the environment. That's less cars that are driving down our roads and more people that bike and walk. This is the new normal This is what we are going to be doing more and more in the county," says Leon County Commissioner Akin Akinyemi.

The final touches for project such as striping are expected to be complete by the end of February. Originally, the project was estimate to cost the county about $7.4 million dollars. But the project is expected to be done about 10 months ahead of schedule and cost about half its original estimate at $4.9 million.

    No, not quite yet...they have a little bit more standing around and thumb wrestling matches scheduled. just kidding..but you guys did seem to nearly stop after the new year started.
