Valdosta, Georgia - August 17, 2011

A car traveling westbound on Northside drive collided with an ambulance responding to an emergency call.

Two paramedics were rushed to the hospital.

Around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to a car versus ambulance accident at the intersection of Northside Drive and Patterson Street in Valdosta.

Authorities say Rachel Ocho, 24, failed to yield to an ambulance traveling northbound on Patterson Street.

The two paramedics taken to the hospital were Huey Obester and Allen Fountain.

"Both paramedics were transported to South Georgia Medical Center,' says John Chamberlain, with the Valdosta Police Department. "I'm not sure about their injuries at this time. It was pretty severe. It overturned an ambulance. So, it was a pretty severe accident."

Ocho, who suffered no injuries, faces a misdemeanor charge of failure to yield for an emergency vehicle. That's a three-point violation

WCTV was the only TV media on scene after a car hit an ambulance responding to an emergency call in Valdosta. Two passengers were injured. We'll bring you the details tonight.

North Valdosta Road is an idiot magnet with numerous accidents waiting to happen every second of every day. I drive it 5 days a week commuting to Thomasville and its the worst part of my drive. Hope the EMTs are ok. And 'Anonymous' you are sooooo right!
