Eyewitness News has learned that a StarMetro bus and a car have been involved in an accident, according to the Tallahassee Police Department. The accident occurred at around 8:20am at the intersection of Tennessee Street and Columbia Drive

The bus was stopped at a bus stop to pick up riders when a person driving a car rear-ended the bus. Police say the driver was going about 35 to 45 mph. Police think the driver wasn't wearing a seat belt at the time and was knocked unconscious by the impact of the collision. The bus driver and 4 passengers were taken to Tallahassee Memorial for "precautionary" measures.

Drivers are advised to expect delays in the area.

I would ride the bus if I could get to the stop and then home again. Oh, cell Phones create the same number of accidents as drunk driving. My knee jerk reaction is to blame a cell phone. Still, not seeing a stopped bus ? People on a bus can text all they want. Busses are a great idea but according to one poster here I can't ride them. I don't have enough welfare children or something. We have some real baffoons here don't we ?

Its funny we hear about the city bus getting into a crash, but a week ago a school bus got hit. No one even heard about that. Bus was stopped picking up kids, lady hit the bus from behind.

No matter what, Star Metro Drivers are Dangerous on the Road. I see them all the time doing things that if I did it, I would be Ticketed. PLUS: I am always seeing them Stopped in the Road for 10 to 20 Minutes as if they are Broken Down but instead they are just parked there killing time. ALSO: there are many Streets in Tallahassee that has way to many Bus Stops.

Please list some reason where it would not be your fault for rear ending someone.

Too stupid to wear a belt, too blind to see a giant bus, almost a Darwin award winner

all you people complaining about the busses need to realize that if everyone riding the busses had a car to drive there would be thousands more cars clogging our streets. Traffic in Tally would be gridlock constantly. And not all of us bus riders have multiple kids my multiple daddys. When my hubby lost his job due to downsizing we had to choose between foreclosure on our home or giving up our car. I'd much rather ride the city bus than have to file bankruptcy.

Maybe in some cities...but here in Tally the buses are normally pretty empty.....check them out sometime. The only place where buses are almost full is around the campuses.

If buses shouldn't be allowed to stop in the road, how would they pick up passengers? Make them run along and jump in once the driver opens the door?

They should be on secondary roads...not a busy thrufare like Tennessee Street. Re-read my post...'busy roads'

You also got to realize....many accidents happen at this time of year and at March 15 to 25. The sun is low and direclty in many peoples eyes when driving east in morning and west in afternoon.
