Details: Easterwood Drive and Weems Road were scheduled to be closed from December 2010 to June 2011 as part of a $5.5 million City project to reconstruct the roads. While work continues on the first phase of the project, the roads are being reopened to motorists two months ahead of schedule, providing convenient access to Tom Brown Park, the Tallahassee-Leon Community Animal Service Center, the Capital Chapter of the American Red Cross, and nearby schools. New to motorists will be a landscaped roundabout at the reconstructed intersection of Easterwood Drive and Weems Road, a traffic signal at the Easterwood Drive/Capital Circle Northeast intersection and associated improvements. When fully completed, the first phase of the project will also include sidewalks, bike lanes and curbs/gutters for improved stormwater drainage. The project is a component of the City Commission’s commitment to job creation, with over 25 jobs directly attributable to the Easterwood/Weems improvements.
